So...speaking of plugs, what plugs should I use in my MC-2 10vt? Just
acquired one and am getting her road-worthy. Ideas?

Mine had that problem a few years ago, through a lot of $$'s on little  
stuff.  Mine bucked under load, but had good boost.  Problem was  cracked 
porcelain on one of the plugs.  Caused a misfire or buck under load  only.
