Those nokian hakka's are the benchmark pretty much for non augmented traction......i also have a set of nokian studded tires for my mtn bike which work ok in shallow conditions

If you buy a cheep set of used wheels, I run Nokien Haka RSI's in the  
winter on my 200 Avant.  By far the best winter tire I have owned.
 
I live in Minnesota and do drive out to Colorado once a year for a ski  
trip.  Great tire.
