My A/C is a little different than yours - read: less good (it's an
ur-quattro w/ 3B) - and I'm not sure exactly how it is wired fan-wise. I
rarely use it anyway...maybe I will hear it come on this summer....

Just curious....

You better hope it comes on. If you have the aircon system in econ mode the
normal fan operation is disengaged. So you are driving around town in
mid-summer and the engine heats up. WHAMO, hurricane mode kicks in to cool
things rapidly. I have also had it come on in 110 degree heat to boost
cooling. And, the current draw is above 50 amps, so make sure the dorky
stock fuse is good, or replaced with a modern 80 amp fuse. A failure of this
operation will melt your wiring loom.
