stuck seat belt

I don't know about any difference in the rear seat between the avant and
sedan, but in my sedan to get to the battery I remove two Philips-head
screws at the bottom (forward) edge of the lower cushion and pull out the
seat bottom towards the front of the car. You have previously gotten to the
battery in your avant by lifting the seat as you describe?
