Maybe a dumb question-but have you verified that the timing pin on the
flywheel is present and in good condition?

Subject: Best source for an ECM for the '91 200 TQ 20v?
On my "Unable to start" 1991 200 TQ 20v after getting the Vag-Com, and
following the Vag-Com codes that my car had a bad engine timing sensor
and
bad engine rpm speed sensor I replaced them both assembled and complete
with
the aluminum bracket. Actually a used one from Shokan for $178. incl.
UPS.
I confirmed that both used sensors were good with the ohm-meter test
showing
about 950 ohms between terminals 1 and 2.
Installing those two known good sensors didn't help the car to start, so
I
flatbed trucked it to the local Audi repair shop (not a dealer) and they
used a computerized mechanic's aid to go thru some diagnostic tests, and
determined there was no power at the ECM pin # 25 so they believe I may
have
a bad ECM. They did not have the VW break-out box, but instead followed
the
Mitchell's online guide.
My ECM was chipped by a company maybe 10 years ago, which increased the
engine output. At this point I can purchase a used ECM from Shokan in
New
York, or possibly a used one from Force 5 online....what else are my
options? Who is the best source used or am I better off only buying one
new? (No, I'd prefer not to flat bed the car 60 miles to my closest
Audi
dealer). Are there any shops that have the ability to take my ECM and
test
it to determine if it is bad?
The numbers on my ECM are Bosch 0 261 200 451 and VW 447 907 404 AA.
Motronic.
