round lights?- HID lites

Setup used factory lamp housings, my lamps in the vw were 9004 halogens I think, the hid bulb came with some adaptor to make it plug in the lamp housing just like changing a bulb. I believe the vw setup to be very similar to factory 20v headlamps where the bulbs were reasonable wattage but the reflector setup just sucked. I don't remember what the factory 20v bulbs were, but my 9004 upgrade was awesome and I don't think the bulbs project more than a few mm more off the back of the headlamps than the original if it's tight in there, I remember the euro lites were a lot bigger and required moving the jumper post.

I got them from HID country in florida off the web, they have like every bulb option, listed below is what I got, once again I can't say enough of how much better these are. I went with the 4300 degree color which is closest to most factory hid setups, the higher temps are really purple in spectrum. I am now considering getting the low temp bulb setup to install in some cheap ass foglamp housings because the yellow lites reflect so much less off water and water vapor. My vw had the expensive piaa fogs that got totally trashed being low to the ground, the lens got trashed as well as broken housing. I have the yellow hella foglamps on my 20v avant and they are ok but I have had several meltdowns on the relay and attached wiring. The hid setups are 3x as bright at 0.5x the wattage and they are cheap also.....and supposedly the hid bulbs last several times longer than halogen but I cant attest to that yet......and if you ever want to switch back to a factory bulb it's a simple 5 minute bulb replacement

Hope this helps, it may be a great option to euro lites and replacement euro lens if they are NLA.

David, was this a set up that used the factory lens, or was it an
independent projector lamp of some sort?
