I believe those years had the V8.  My former boss had an Avant
with 6? speed manual. I got to drive it from NH to Moose Head
Lake in Maine, on a lot of rural back roads. It is a fantastic
car, but the gas mileage wasn't very good -- the low teens when
driven the way you want to. It's a thirsty devil.
