hard start issue

Try starting the car without depressing the throttle like Shane said in the morning, If the car starts eventually, and idles fine I would not suspect the IFV. There should be some fuel pressure in the system before cranking the engine when it's dead cold in morning you would need fuel pressure gauge to check that though, the check valve at the fuel pump prevents the pressure from bleeding back into the pump, and tank, keeps the pressure up so that it won't take that extra few seconds to prime the fuel system. Cleaing the IFV, and throttle plate is a good idea though very well could be the issue. I also suspect fuel pump might be on the blink, if it's noisy it could be on it's way out?
