Heater valve

?I purchased a new heater valve from local dealer and it was shorter in
overall length than the original valve. as failure of this item leaves you
stranded, I just replaced it with a piece of pipe. I thought my AC would be
significantly affected, but it is not. still works some though I've not
recharged it in years and of course I get heat when needed. Consider that
as an option.

Sjm has them. I believe its still used because I sent them an email asking
which one I should use and got a reply that the one with the electrical
connector is the one to use. Whether or not it actually has a function, I
have no idea.

Where'd you find the one with the electrical connector? Those have been
NLA for years, far as I know. You don't need the electrical connector in
general. I think it's supposed to close the valve during A/C use, but the
heater core box flap controllers are supposed to stop your blower air from
passing over the core during A/C use so it's a redundancy. Default
position for the heater valve is open.

What's up all, I was drivin home last night and my car started pissin out
coolant from what appeared to be a crack in the heater valve. I parked it
on the side of the road and when I got home ordered a replacement. There
were 2 different types to order, one with an electrical connector on it and
one without. I recall that there was a connector on mine but when I
searched for the valve in the bentley I couldn't find it. Do some cars have
the connector while others don't? I believe the connector has something to
do with the a/c. Tia.
