Re. Just in case you might know about this personThank you, Ben. My gut
feeling was to just walk away. I've posted a couple of ads in Audifans
Marketplace, but the response was very poor, simple because I was only
looking for the door in Burgundy in good condition. The only person who
responded was Francis Bacon. So, I thought I might give a try. But,
before committing myself to that, I thought I should ask fellow Type 44
owners about this guy.
Then, all of a sudden, I am getting a lot of comments, suggestions and
responses, thanks to die-hard fellow Audifans. In fact, a person in NY
offered me the one in Burgundy. But, I am in other Washington. So, two
issues that I can think of -- shipping and rust. Audis in our area are
absolutely rust-free, but I hear that those in your area are not in good
condition. Anyway, I am emailing back and forth with this person, and see
what happens. If your is in Burgundy, please let me know. Shin

Most likely it's a scam and I've never heard of either of those persons.
There are many scam attempts from bogus buyers that get our email from the
marketplace. Usually it is obvious from their writing, but they can be found
out quickly by asking questions about the parts origin or to supply a
picture.
I'd surmise that even shipping a door overseas would be cost prohibitive.
Why not get a door from someone in the good ol' USA - like me or Chris
Semple or someone nearby? There are plenty of folks who have parted them
out. The only reason I'd get a part from Europe is if it is a Euro only
part, and then I'd want to verify that person is legit..
I don't know where you are located, but surely a safer bet to deal with
someone that posts on this list. I have the door if no one else steps up to
the plate - I must not have seen your ad earlier or figured you are on the
west coast and could find shipping cheaper from someone closer.

Dear Lister:
I am in need of a 20V left rear door, and this gentleman in UK offered me
the door for sale. However, I am a bit worried about sending money to
someone I don't know. In fact, a couple of months ago, I did jut that and
lost $150 to a person named Curtis Price. So, I don't want to repeat the
same thing.
Sorry for the long introduction. Have you heard of Francis Bacon, no, not
that famous historic person, but present day person in UK that might be
known to some of you who might have purchased Audi parts from?
Please let me know if that person is trustworthy or not, if you know about
him. Francis, if you are reading this post, please understand that I
recently had a bad experience and lost a chunk of money by the scam artist.
