I went with a custom exhaust a couple of years ago.  It is dual pipe (2.25"
I believe - maybe 2.125") from larger cats back into a Ford Explorer muffler
with dual inlets and a single larger outlet.

No, its not SS but it seems to flow well to redline and it does not drone.

Took me a few tries and some droning unhappiness until I devolved from name
brand performance mufflers to the Walker replacement muffler for the
Explorer.  It may not last 20 years, but the for the price, I can afford to
replace it.
