Winter tires

Hi guys, looking into winter tires for my 02 S6.  Had Hakka RSI's on  the 
old 200, great tire but not going to invest~$900 into them for the S6   My 
neighbor manages a Tires Plus.  He recommends Nexen winter tires (V  rated) 
for best bang for the buck in an inexpensive snow.
 
Does anyone have any experience with them.  Never though I would put  
Korean tires on a German car!

PS the guy who brought my Avant has done a great job of restoring it!
