Importance of bolted in crossmember?

Thanks, Austin.  I did search there before I posted, but didn't find that thread.  Probably because there is no space in crossmember ("cross member" in that thread.  Then again, my webmail client is spell-checking "crossmember."
I'm changing my fuel filter this evening to see if it solves a stumbling issue I'm having.  If not, then it's plug wires next on the replacement list.  No fault codes pull up.
