[A4] recall letter

Well, I received a letter on my 98.5 A4 also, but I'm not very happy.
It says that if I have already replaced the components myself then I
am SOL. Of course I did the work myself over the summer because it
was causing such bad tire wear that I had too! And I can't afford to
let the stealership replace them; they wanted almost as much for 1
control arm than I purchased the WHOLE replacement package with!

If they would have sent me the recall 6 months ago, I would be a happy
camper right now. But as it sits, I just had to eat $600 and a full
Saturday wrestling with my suspension.

Do you think that I could get some of the money back with this recall?
I have my old parts :) so I could prove that they were worn and
needed replacing. I also have the receipt from where I purchased the
replacement kit. The recall states that you have to have the parts
replaced by either an Audi dealer or a professional shop. Well my Dad
*is* a professional mechanic (retired after 30 years) but we did it in
the driveway. I would be happy to get $500 back. Do you think I
could Good Will the money? Did anyone else already replace the parts
out of necessity?

Maybe we could write in stating our case. Yea, I know, Audi couldn't
care less about us now. They have our money... :(

Later...
  Richard
