[A4] Considering to buy A3, but how about the temperature?

2nd that.  It's a known common problem on B5 cars, I had one go on my S4 last winter.  It didn't completely die yet, the coolant temp gauge was still registering a reading, but it threw a CEL, and dealer replaced that in no time.  Thankfully it's a cheap fix, the newer version of the sensor (comes with an o-ring) is between $5-10 from the dealer, I didn't need to buy one (still under warranty), but that's the price range from what I've read.

Btw, regarding your comment on Audis being over-engineered, you do realize our cars are designed and built by Germans right? ;-)
