Thanks,

That it does. I live with this everyday since I used Vag-Com to
reprogram my car to provide for auto-locking. Unfortunately, this can be
a security issue in parking lots. For example, you are exiting your car
but you only want the driver's door to open, and only when you are
ready, not when you take the key out. I've found that the software
supports a feature whereby if you manually hit the lock button then the
door(s) will not auto-unlock when you remove the key from the ignition.

Hi,
I had a rattle that sounded just like that. It was actually the exhaust
hanger near the center diff. The piece had simply snapped. I had it
welded at a local shop for about $20. I'd suggest looking at all the
hangers for the exhaust system (from cat to tailpipe) and see if one of
those is rattling.

Maybe not. Whoever performed the previous service may have forgotten to
reset the service indicator, perhaps because the service was performed
before the indicator was active.

The service indicator can be reset without using VAG-COM, or the Dealer
equivalent. The procedure is described in the Owner's Manual.

Does anyone have any recommendations for a decent on-line parts store
that
sells parts for an Audi A4? I am particularly interested in finding a
decent price for a front half-shaft. Thanks for any help!

Try local places too.
There is a place here in Seattle called Drivelines NW that does great
work
with drive axles and half shafts.
I'm sure there are places similar in most major areas.

Funny you bring this up. I just encountered this need with my '84
urquattro. Dealer List price on a new one was $1190. A local wrench
here
in Denver usually swaps the used part for a rebuilt unit through
Worldpac or
somebdy, price at about $165. Or they will rebuild your actual part for
same price. I ended up having to have my shaft rebuilt. One day
turnaround, $165. Not sure why you need one, but it might be best to
just
try buying a used one. I'm sure there are plenty of used ones available
with plenty of life left.

Yep...I've had luck with the one-day turnaround rebuilds.
On my Peugeot 405 Mi16....

For online sources I would try:
http://germanautoparts.com
http://parts4vws.com
Both great companies.
