[A4] check engine light turned on?

I have another question as well.  This morning, I had to take my car to go 
drop off the mail and I was in a bit of a hurry, so I had to go without 
letting the car warm up a bit, even though it was a bit cold outside.  After 
I turned on the car again after dropping off the mail, the check engine 
light turned on.  There doesn't seem to be anything wrong with the car and I 
was just wondering if anyone had any idea as to why this might have 
happened?  I plan on taking it in to get the warning checked out, I just 
wanted to get an idea of what things I can expect so it's not too much of a 
shock.  The car is an A4, 1.8T, non Quattro, manual transmission, about 
130K. Thanks!
