[A4] The dreaded tire thread

Hi.  I hate to start this thread, but here it goes.

I'm thinking about putting some Bridgestone RE950s on my 99 2.8.  I can't
decide whether to leave the tire sizes stock or to put slightly wider tires
on - say 215/55 or 225/55(50).  Will I realistically gain anything putting
the wider tires on (street use only)?  I've got the 7 spoke rims on the car
now, and according to an AudiWorld thread, the 225s look puffy on these
rims.  Any opinions?
