[A4] rattling dashboard

on my 2000 it was the actual dash glass against the surround.  i found that
by placing a small "splinter" of wood between the two it made the rattle go
away, but it was highly annoying

It seems to be somewhere INSIDE the dash - behind all the panels.  I can't
seem to locate any part of the plastic covering on the outside as the source
of the rattle.  Is it the same for you?
