Thank you Richard and Paul for the quick response on my "No Pop Up Washers"
question. It was very helpful. I found a A4 wiring diagram at:

http://www.bentleypublishers.com/tech/audi/audi.b6.wd.02.pdf

So I have a place to start. I kind of suspect that the pump may be the
problem tho. I think that I can hear the sound of it running when the
headlights are on while washing and a different sound when the headlights
are off. But it may be my imagination too. Tonight I'll have my wife run the
washers while I stick my head under the hood and see if I am hearing things
correctly. And yes, if that is the problem you gotta believe it will be a
pain to replace. All the washer tubing and reservoir seem to disappear out
of sight down somewhere in there next to the motor. Wish me luck.

Thanks guys,
Jim.
