Colorado DOT started using Mag-Chloride a few years back and assured
everybody it was non-corrosive.  Total BS.  I have seen late model ball
joints, tie-rod ends etc that are extremely corroded after only 2 or three
years of use.  Here in CO it is a very dry and our cars don't rust, in
general - but now woth this stuff suspension components wear out quickly -
you need to wash it off ASAP.  Personally - it's another good reason to
drive the back roads when we get a good snow -1) fresh powder 2) fewer
people 3) NO mag chloride 4) no idiots 5) did I mention fresh powder on open
roads that are better for quattro-controlled sideways driving??

Wanted to let everyone know about my hassle with getting my car aligned
after installing new front control arms.

It was that special little tool that sets camber that did the trick, thou
anyone can do the same with a prybar in the right place, so the mechanic
said. The cost was 79 bucks for a four way alignment. it's nice to have a
tight front end now without any noises.

Brandon, yes, I should have ordered a set of tie rods with the control arms,
the boots were cracked bad and I doubt if the car would have made  it thru
spring without further problems up there. In WA state they put this nasty
liquid on the road that helps with the ice problem but it sticks on the car
like glue, a real pain to clean off. It does save us some from the rock
chips on the windshield.
