Greg, you may be experiencing what many new Audi owners experience their
first winter of driving. When you accelerate with Quattro, you grip and go
regardless of the tires/road conditions (well, to a degree). Subconciously
one thinks, hmmm, roads are not too bad, and then when brake time comes,
it's the ole subconcious that tells you when to hit the skids and on slick
roads, it's just a bit too late so you have to hit them harder, abs
actuates, and you know the story. 5/32" of tread is not all that much, but
enough to get going with a quat.
I run Dunlop Wintersport M3 and have been very happy with both snow and dry
driving. P Zero Nero's for me in the summer.
Get some snows, or conciously think about beginning your braking sooner on
slick roads.:-)
