[A4] Brake Light Replacemant

Can anyone out there help me with information on how to replace 
a brake light bulb on the left rear of a 2002 A4 Avant? 
The warning on a bulb failure comes on when you start the 
car and sure enough the lamp is out. Should be simple to
replace I would think. I removed the screw securing the 
inside of the lens through the pop off cover in the luggage space
but there seems to be something else holding the lens assembly
tightly in on the front edge of the lens. I can't find any other obvious
attachment. It seems like it was designed to just rotate out, but 
I fear it will break something if I force it. 

Of course this occurred 2 weeks after the 50K warranty ran out.
I hate to go back to the dealer for just a bulb replacement. I checked 
the archives but didn't find anything to help.
