[A4] i'm buying a new A4

For what its worth, I've also got a '00 A4 Avant - 2.8 quattro 5 speed
with sport package.   I just turned 101k miles last week.  Admittedly, I
drive the car very hard.  I keep all the fluids new and clean.  The car
has been bulletproof.  I just did my first tie rod end.  I did the
brakes and rotors at 80k and the timing belt/water pump at 90k.
 
My biggest complaint is the fuel mileage - terrible at 20mpg.  I'm
trying to justify a BMW 545, with the 26mpg it gets.  Yeah, right. 
Pretty bad logic.  
 
Isn't the decision part of the fun:)

still, lots of second thoughts. talked a lot with the wifey last
night. she gave it her stamp of approval, but still. it comes down to
spending an extra $300/month. that's $3600/year, for the most part
because
i want some new features (nav with map screen, i already have first
gen
nav in my 2000 avant, and leather/wood) and i worry about what repairs
might cost because the extended warranty runs out in february. still,
it's pretty unlikely that i'd have t0 spend $3600/year for two years.
especially since most of the front suspension is new, clutch is new,
TB/WP is done, and lots of little seals and boots have been replaced
by
my dealer who has been finding every last thing with any flaw at all
to
do before the warranty runs out. oh yeah, the engine was apart 8k
miles
ago, no sludge. so maybe it's going to cost me a lot LESS than
$3600/year
to maintain. 67k miles BTW.

and, in all honesty, i like the 325xi best, though it costs more
than the A4. i believ that has towing capacity, too.
