[A4] how do i reset the "check engine" light?

The "Check Engine" light (gotta love it) has come on a few times on my 96 A4 V6.  The first time, the EGR was clogged.  I had it replaced.  Light went out (or was reset?).  Last September, the car sat for a month and the light came on the first time I drove.  BUT, the light went out on its own.  It came on again a couple weeks ago and I haven't taken the trouble to get it checked.  
 
Anyone else have issues with their EGRs on early A4 V6s?
