My original purchase decision did not include Shade
Tree's Pro-Diag as I was not aware of it at the time.
I also got a deal on the Bentley CD in the same
throw.
Now, having "hands-on" reviewed it at an Audi Club
tech session where the developers of the Pro-Diag were
actually in attendance, I'm still happy with the
VAG-COM solution.

Why? -

I'm a PC kind of guy and even my PDA is Windows Pocket
PC ... not a huge fan of Palm OS.

With a wireless connection, I can sit in my car in my
garage and pull codes, flip to another window and
browse forums or other Internet resources regarding
the codes ... I can even download and install a new
version of VAG-COM right then to gain new
functionality.

Pulling logs and then importing them into Excel for
analysis or comparisons is *easy* on a full-sized
screen.

Moving the software from machine to machine (or
actually just installing it on a number of machines)
is OK due to the "dongle" function of the Hex-COM
cable. Although, in hind-sight I should've gone
Hex-USB as my newest laptop will need a PC Card COM
port (or alternative) to use the cable. The old
laptop is now kept in the $4 boot along with the
cable.

In the final analysis though, I like the Pro-Diag
product and the developers ... really, you can't go
wrong with either product - IMHO.
