Well well well...and you reminded me of another great alternative to 
the Allroad which I forgot about.   <grin>!  And something in the 
VW-Audi Group family.

The previous generation Passat.  You could get that in a 6-speed W8 
4Motion version in either sedan or wagon form.  They are rare, and 
have held value decently enough..so finding one is a challenge, but 
they are great cars.  I drove a Tiptronic version when it came 
out.   I hate autos, but otherwise the car was great.
