Ok, let's use another example.

Speed World Challenge.  They use penalty weight if you place in the top six (I beleive) spots.

Turner Motorsport with Bill Auberlen a few years back was running with the maximum weight penalty, which I think was 200 lbs.

Bill said it completely changed his strategy due to the extra wear and tear the weight put on his brakes, tires and how it changed the handling dynamics of the car.

That's 200 lbs.  Not 500lbs like in the allroad to S4 avant example, or 1000 lbs like an allroad to a 1.8T A4.

Yes, technology is great, but it's not defying physics.  The lighter car will always be faster on a track, unless the heavier car has sooo much power that it can just blow down the straights at warp speed.  

Look at how the Lotus race cars fared back in the day vs much more powerful opponents...
