 yeah please dont give that $$ to the dealer. you can get a super fancy bolt
in high flow cat AND a borla exhaust for that $$.

aftermarket replacement cat's will be 250-400$, a good independent mechanic
should have them available and as was said a muffler shop should also have a
bolt in or be able to make one for way cheaper. you can also get them used
pretty cheaply..

and driving the car with a bad cat wont hurt the car at all. it's actually a
common performance modification to remove the cat and replace it  with a
'test-pipe', which is just a big 3" pipe that goes where the cat should.
good for turbo spool up, bad for your co emissions. =)
