Not only do the caliper pins need relubrication with a high temperature brake 
grease but also the caliper carrier contact points for the brake pad backing 
plates and the plates themselves. Also, the corrosion on the sliding contact 
areas needs to be cleaned up. The single piston sliding caliper design is 
widely used but for reasons of low cost not best function. Most Porsche brakes use 
two piston or four piston calipers that do not require the caliper to slide on 
external surfaces that eventually stick and seize up. The rear brakes on many 
Audis and VWs are even more prone to seizure than the fronts since only a 
fragile rubber boot seals the sliding pins from water and road grime.
