uhm... the audiworld and audizine forum faq's are good sources of info
for newcomers.
but.. if she's 'crossing streambeds' perhaps an suv is a better bet?
the audi is a great car, but meant for tarmac. snow and gravel are
fine, but rivers are another mater. what about an outback wagon?
theyre 5spd, reliable, cheap [frankly much more of both than the a4].
and would have a little extra ground clearance for the ocasional water
xing.

The Focus has around 6 inches or so, but in reading the A4 Avant had around 4 inches. Gotta have more than that to cross streambeds, etc.
