I concur. You can get the Bentley service manual (or even Haynes for a '98)

At the very least find a reputable garage and quit taking it to Audi. That should save you at least 30%.

  bah  got mine used off car-part.com for $100 worked flawless until  i sold 
  the car, you can change just the module by accessing the bolts through  the 
  driver side fender well with the wheel removed
