[A4] Need for Premium Gas in 1.8T quattro?

I'd be surprised if there's any connection between fuel grade and
sludge, after all, the fuel is supposed to be separate from the oil
(unless your piston rings are shot....but then you have an entirely
different set of problems). However, there is always a very little
amount of oil consumption (burnt), so the problem would be the other
way, i.e. oil burning in the cylinder not fuel getting into the
oil....does that make sense?
