im not taking anyone's side, but look how wrong audi was when they told all  
their customers to change oil every 10k miles, now they have tons of law suits 
 and recalls on the "sludge" issues. everyone's wrong even audi sometimes.

Take ot of leave it -- I really don't care.

But I  AM living proof that it can be done with no ill effects.

Audi has to  warranty the cars for 60k miles, which means their
service and operational  recomendations are going to err on the
side of safety.  You figure  that running 87 octane fuel they may
see 10% of their engines repaired  under warranty, where running 91
octane, they may see 3%.  That 7%  difference is a big deal to
Audi, so they err on the conservative side and  specify a minimum
RON of 91.

Run whatever you want.
