[A4] Nokian tire estimate - choke, choke!

That tire in 225/45/17 is $220 here in Denver for the V-rated version
(for '01 S4).  

I opted for the Hankook W300 instead.  Same design/use philosophy - I
now have Hankook W300s on my S4 and the wifeys Passat 4motion and am
plenty happy with them.  I had the WR on my former A4 and still have
them on my urquattro.  Great tire for sure - a little better than the
Hankooks.  BUT I got the Hankooks in the above mentioned size for
$130/tire in V-rated.  90% of the tire for just over half the cost.

  I've started checking into tire costs for my current ride - a 2006 A4
Quattro with TPMS, and holy cow, was I shocked to find out how much
these suckers are going to cost! The tire I've decided on is the Nokian
WR - I've had a set and LOVED them - the tread design isn't quite as
radical as their famous Hakkepillita tire, and is more of an all-season
radial, but the overall performance is perfect for what I want -
something better than the usual all-season tire, but not a full-blown
winter tire. At any rate, the tire estimate I got was over $200 a tire,
choke, choke. 
  Is this what good tires are going for these days or should I be
shopping around? That seemed pretty exhorbitant, but then again, the car
has 17" wheels, and I've not had 17" wheels before - perhaps I'm just
experiencing sticker shock for the cost of tires that size...
