[A4] Vacuuming broke air bag?

I am currently fighting this battle. What I did was disconnect the
connector, sprayed the inside with WD-40 and reconnected them. This has
worked so far (the past couple of months) but I'm not sure of the long term
effects. To turn the light off, and therefor make the airbags work, you
need a VAG or something. I have a Palm Pilot with the ShadeTree software
that I got off of eBay. It cost about $100 and it works a treat.
Especially since the dealer charges $70 to clean and reset the airbag light.
