[A4] Tire Size Debate

Well, I've gone and done it - I am now ridding on 4 new Potenza G009 tires.
After going over it in my head and searching for different recommendations,
I came to the conclusion that I would bite the bullet and get all 4. The
other 3 were in "ok" shape and I might have gotten another year out of them,
but riding around on two different ties would have gnawed at me night & day.

Brandon said it best in an earlier message: "For me - If I had 4 tires that
were, say, past half worn and needed to replace one or two, I'd go ahead and
replace all four - I'd bitch about spending the money a little sooner than I
wanted but before long it would be history. If the tires were pretty new,
I'd just go for the one or two new ones and probably put them up front."

I got up this morning and scooted on down to the local Tire's Plus (Michaels
Tires) and told them to go ahead and slap 4 new tires on. He said that the
G009 tires were $130/each out the door, I told him that the guy last night
said I could get the "Buy 3 get 1 free" deal. He said that the deal wasn't
good for that tire, but he would give it to me anyway. The total cost was
$436 - even cheaper than Tire Rack before mounting/balancing! I am
extremely happy with my deal and he now has a customer for life! It's all
good.

Well, not all of it. After putting on my spare tire last night and merging
back into traffic, a local Oil Recycle truck whipped in front of me and
spewed my windshield with crap. I cursed and yelled (being in a bad mood
already) but wrote it off and went to get my tire looked at. This morning
as I was pulling away from the tire dealer I noticed a 3" crack in my
windshield. :( Looking a little closer I found a small pit and some glass
and rock dust at the base of the windshield. I guess I'll just wait for it
to run and then get a new one. Good thing I pay the insurance company
obscene amounts of money so I can get it replaced for "free". But, I'm not
bitter...

Later...
  Richard
