Hi Tyson,
    Thanks for the advice.  Yeah, my mechanic mentioned the 4k-5k oil 
changes too... post-humously, it doesn't do me much good, but I'll keep 
that in mind for the next one.  :-P  Given my non-mechanic-self, I opted 
to follow the advice of the factory manual reasoning that surely Audi 
knows best.  Oh well.

I'm in the San Francisco area, so no dice there -but thanks for the offer.
