As far as I can recall, the B5 started in 1996, the B6 was introduced in
2002 and the B7 platform 2005.5.

The B5 engines were 1.8T or 2.8V6, the 1.8T later boosted by 20HP to 170BHP
in 1999.5 (designated with a red stripe next to the T on the back of the
car). The B6 used 1.8T or 3.0V6. The B7 introduced the 2.0T and the 3.2V6..
