[A4] A4 Tiptronic won't shift out of park

Don't be tricked man - 10 to 1 says that you got some
electrical/electronic problem. I don't see ice causing this. Either the
switch or the actuator is on its last legs and could leave your car
stranded.

Now I don't know about the Audis, but I know some cars will start up if
they are not in Park. I would advocate that if you must drive this car,
to leave it in neutral and set the e-brake. If you put it into Park, it
may not come out of it again.

I think you mean "mysteriously".

At lunch, I went out to my car to check it out. Started the engine, put
my foot
on brake pedal, the "foot" light on console went from being off to being
lit,
pressed in the shift button, and, unlike the other day, this time the
shift
lever easy slid into reverse, just like it has always done. ?!?

It's 45F here. On Sunday it was below freezing. Maybe something got wet
and
froze, preventing the shift lever from moving. Or maybe the Audi gods
were just
having some fun at my expense.

Thank you everyone for the suggestions. I'll keep them close at hand.
