[A4] changing fuel filter

 First off, changing the filter is a minor beyotch of a job.  I did it a few years back, and don't look forward to doing it again.  The space is very tight.  Removing and replacing the filter along with all of the preformed stiff fuel lines requires both precision and muscle.  The clamping bolt is either allen or Torx, I can't remember.  The real issue is that when you pull the filter down, it will go down barely far enough for you to fit only a screwdriver bit onto the head of that screw.  You can turn this bit by using a small ratching box wrench.  I secured the bit onto the box wrench with some masking tape, for a makeshift Torx micro ratching wrench.  And I remember that you needed a reasonably nice wrench with small angle ratcheting action, as the wrench can only wiggle over a small sweep angle.  There isn't any room for anything else. That's for changing the filter, I never went further into the fuel lines.  Not hard, just a pain.  Good luck. -Phil  Message: 1Date: Mon,

I tried tightening the banjo bolt but it still leaks -- maybe I've cracked either the line or the filter.Any tips on removing the filter? It looks like getting to the clamping bolt is a bit of a challenge. BTW, what kind of bolt is it? Standard 6-point hex or is it an allen? (That's how well tucked in itis).Thanks in advance.Peter
