[A4] Clutch Pedal to the floor! (Fixed - sorta)

Well, I have some good news and some bad news. The good news is that
minutes after posting my last message my Dad (the Mechanic) came over to
give me a hand and after fussing with the Bentley and crawling back under
the car, I found the slave. WooT! The bad news is that its going to be a
real bear to get to. You can't get to it from the top (at least on the V6)
and its sunk into the housing a bit so even from the bottom I can only see
the feed line & nipple. According to the manual it is held in with a
bracket with only one bolt. If thats true it might make it a bit easier to
R&R, if not I'm going to have to do it by feel and thats not fun. :/ The
other thing is the way the lines attach to the cyclindars looks really
weird. It doesn't look like a normal bolt or even a banjo bolt - it just
looks like a plastic piece with a metal clip on it. I have no idea how that
holds pressure or even how to remove it. Any hints?

The other "good" news is that while Dad was pumping the pedal I heard a bit
of sloshing sound coming from the clutch system and the pedal firmed back up
again. I actually took the car around the block and it was fine. It even
held the clutch for a couple of minutes and didn't leak-down. It looks like
it got air in it somehow but the fluid level is fine and I havent touched it
in a year. If it was leaking you would expect the fluid level to drop,
unless this is the first sign of a leak. I'm going to give it a few days to
see how it reacts - if I everything is fine then I'll be good and wont have
to replace anything.

My guess is that either the master or the slave is going out (slowly) and
that I'll eventually have to replace them. Fun. Fun.

Thanx!
  Richard
