[A4] EVAP Canister

Hi,
I'm half way through dropping my fuel tank out to get to the source of a leak. 
My manual says to do something with the EVAP canister, i forget specifically 
now.
The problem is, I can't find it! the manual says it is at the bottom of the 
spare tire well.
I've looked on the bottom of the car, and can't see anything. I've taken the 
spare wheel out, and can't see anything. It's all just the one piece of 
pressed sheet metal. No covers, no caverns to hide anthing.
Does anyone know where it is???
