I contacted Sybesmas and got a rebuilt unit for $75.

You contact them. Take pictures of your mirror, fill out a form, and
mail both to them. They ___mail you a refurbished mirror___ along with
a shipping sticker for your core. The core system is, amazingly, on
your honor. They have your CC# to charge you full price of the core if
you don't send it, but I was pleasantly surprised.
Just be careful removing and installing the mirror, as it requires some
force on the windshield.
It takes six wires because the mirror communicates with both side
mirrors and the PRNDL switch. The auto-dim feature is disabled in Reverse.
