[A4] 1998 A4 - problem with starting the car ... engine speed sensor

The engine speed sensor is definitely one component that the ECU can not 
"work around".
If the sensor or its wiring become defective after the A4 has warmed up you 
will not be
able to start the car. Find an aftermarket source for the sensor and it can 
be 
installed in less than an hour (more like 30 minutes) by a good independent 
tech.
