A typical automotive cherry picker is only about $200 (locally, and thru amazon.com) . . . that is if you want to do it, and have the space to keep that thing around.  Having a cherry picker in your garage is good for bragging rights too.

It appears that the rear transmission seal in my 2002 A4 quattro 6-spd 
will need to be replaced soon. Not having access to a hoist, I will need 
to pay someone to do this for me. The nearest Audi Dealer is ~160km 
(~100mi), or an expensive ferry ride, away. So, can anyone out there 
recommend any good, independent mechanics in the Nanaimo to Parksville 
area of Vancouver Island, BC?
