art - camber can not be adjusted on the audi's, however toe can effect
inner wear and obviously can be adjusted. IMO it's best to seek out a
good alignment shop, check your local raceway - there's almost always
a guy that does performance alignments. not that you want a
performance alignment, but it's nice to have someone that actually
understands what they're adjusting. the local tire monkeys will only
set it to 'factory' settings [or try, i had several customers at
stasis come in with 'factory' alignments that were all out of whack].
if the car is lowered [it should be!] things get more complicated.
inner tire wear will be a normal part of life no matter what you do.
typically there have been no good aftermarket camber adjustment kits
[kmac, cpp, etc] but lately 034 and purems have released what is
essentially an adjustable CA with oe ends - they look like, on paper,
they would work great.
at stasis we always told people to rotate their tires w/ every oil
change, this helps with the wear but certainly doesn't solve it. we
also found that wear can vary radically per tire. on my own car the
craptastical kuhmo's never seemed to wear at all [or grip, fwiw] but
the new sticky bridgestones are wearing like mad. i run very high tire
pressure [40ish psi] to ease the inner ewar a bit. when they get real
bad i'll probably have them spun around on the wheels to get another
10k out of them. we'll see what happens when you run a directional
tire backwards.. =)
