Guys, I'm replacing an A/C compressor on an '01 A4 TQMS. The previous
compressor didn't sieze, so there's no junk in the system, but the clutch
assembly died, taking the snout off the compressor itself.
I'm at the point where I need to add oil to the system. My A/C book says
it needs 5 oz of oil and I have a few questions:
-- What kind of oil? Obviously it needs PAG, being an R134a system, but
what viscosity?
-- Do new compressors normally ship with oil? Does it need to be drained
and replaced? If not, how much is in there? I don't want to add too much
oil. (This is an OEM compressor.)
A Texas summer is coming and I'm not going through it without A/C!
