Audipages.com has instructions for control arm replacement and I think it mentions a place to order parts.
My 2001 A8L needed a new thermostat, which is stupidly under the timing belt, so it got a complete replacement of everything in there, and at the same time needed a new radiator and some expensive to get at oil pump that may have been leaking that was only a little bit further in than the timing belt. Both front outer CV boots ripped and one or both CV joints went bad. If you don't have trouble with the pinch bolt, replacing the entire axle is not too difficult. Go to raxles.com. I have not had trouble with my control arms.
Heated steering wheels tend to fail, as do transmissions. Overall, they are pretty reliable, for an Audi, but expensive when they do need work.

I recently purchased an Audi A8L 2001 and was looking for feedback in terms of things to look out for, known issues, defects etc., outside of the control arms. Any opinions on the best place to purchase control arm replacement set's. Thanks and Happy New Years.
