[A8] New to The List

Only one of the arms has a verical motion that needs to be centered properly when the bolt is tightened. The other arm does not and pivots freely around its vertical bolt. It is also possible to replace the arm that does not mount to the strut without removing the strut. I was able to do the driver's side, where the bad arm was the easy one, in only 1/2 hour or so, and figured I'd spend the 4+ hours on the hard side only when that arm went bad. I wish I had known the backwards bolt trick prior to reassembly of the passenger side.

Your probably right Cody. It's been 2.5 years since I did that job, and
I've consumed a lot of barley pops since then.
And he's right about the reversing the bolt thing too.

Sure it's not both? I was pretty certain that it specifies to set BOTH
upper
arms at the proper angle to match vehicle rest height.

As an FYI to anybody out there that hasn't changed their upper arms yet:
It's
a sorta annoying job because Audi assembled them in such a way that the
securing bolts can not be removed without removing the entire strut
assembly
from the car. If you re-install the bolts the other way around (bolt
head
closer to the spring) you can in the future remove the arms without
pulling
the strut assembly.
